Cadasta Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Rohini Chaturvedi, Ede Ijjasz-Vasquez, and Chris Locke to our Board of Directors. The addition of these exceptional individuals brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our organization, bolstering our mission to advance land and resource rights worldwide. 

Rohini Chaturvedi, an accomplished international development professional, has dedicated her career to advancing land-based solutions in the fight against the climate crisis. Her expertise centers on empowering Indigenous Peoples and local communities. Rohini currently serves as the strategy lead for the collaborative initiative Forests, People, Climate (FPC), hosted by the Climate and Land Use Alliance. 

Ede Ijjasz-Vasquez has had a significant career at the World Bank, where he was part of the senior leadership responsible for sustainable development, infrastructure, and climate change portfolios. Ede’s work spanned more than 90 developing and emerging economies globally. His extensive experience and commitment to land administration and Indigenous Peoples’ rights make him a significant asset to Cadasta’s Board. Ede is currently a Senior Non-resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution and is actively engaged with various international organizations including the Global Center on Adaptation and the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance. 

Chris Locke, Founder and CEO of Caribou Digital, offers a unique perspective, with a focus on ethical and sustainable digital economies worldwide. With his experience as the former Managing Director of GSMA Mobile for Development, Chris played a pivotal role in leveraging the mobile industry to enhance the lives of the world’s most disadvantaged. His extensive industry background, including roles at Virgin Group, Three, AOL, and T-Mobile. He serves as a Visiting Fellow at the University of California, San Diego, and a Digital Ambassador to the UN Capital Development Fund. 

Commenting on the appointment of the new Board members, Cadasta Board Chair, Albert H. Anoubon Momo said, “We are delighted to welcome these three stellar individuals to Cadasta’s Board. Each brings vast relevant networks and experience that will help Cadasta reach new heights as we continue to scale our work worldwide.” 

Rohini, Ede, and Chris join six elected Board members, one observer, and ex-oficio President and CEO, Amy Coughenour Betancourt. Together they provide strategic and policy direction to Cadasta as it works to advance global land and resource rights to build stronger, more sustainable communities.
