Jul 15 — 2025

Cadasta is delighted to announce the appointment of two outstanding leaders—Megan Wenrich and Munehiko Joya—to its Board of Directors. Munehiko will also serve as Board Treasurer.

Megan Wenrich is a climate capital strategist with over 20 years of experience at the intersection of philanthropy, investing, and sustainability. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Development at Breakthrough Energy, where she helped unlock catalytic capital for climate innovation. Her career also includes senior roles at The Nature Conservancy, Russell Philanthropies, and the National Wildlife Federation, where she led efforts in capital mobilization, philanthropy advising, and stakeholder alignment.

Megan brings deep expertise in governance, strategy, and building cross-sector partnerships to drive systems-level change. “Securing land rights is foundational to climate resilience, economic opportunity, and community well-being. I’m honored to join Cadasta’s Board and contribute to its critical work of providing access to technology and training that help communities protect what matters most—their land, their resources, and their future.”

Munehiko Joya is a seasoned international civil servant and corporate responsibility pioneer with a distinguished career spanning leadership roles at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Global Green Growth Institute, and Hitachi, Ltd. He has guided financial strategy and governance in complex global institutions and played a key role in UN reform efforts, including co-sharing the Treasury Community of Practice for the “Delivering as One” initiative.

Munehiko currently serves as President of Associazione Giapponese Per l’Istruzione Scolastica (AGIS), overseeing Japanese educational institutions in Rome, and is a passionate advocate for sustainability, education, and global citizenship.

Munehiko shared that, “Around the world, land and resource rights are a gateway to dignity, stability, and sustainable development. I look forward to supporting Cadasta’s mission by strengthening its financial stewardship and helping scale its impact across diverse communities and institutions globally.”

Reflecting on their appointments, Cadasta President and CEO Amy Coughenour Betancourt said, “Megan and Munehiko each bring an extraordinary depth of experience, values-driven leadership, and global perspective. Their combined strengths in climate innovation, financial governance, and inclusive development will be instrumental as Cadasta expands its impact at the intersection of land rights, sustainable development, and climate resilience.”
