Technology as a Catalyst for Land Tenure and Climate Justice: Cadasta at the Global Land Forum

Jun 12 — 2025

This month, Cadasta is proud to join Indigenous leaders, grassroots advocates, researchers, policymakers, and technologists at the 2025 Global Land Forum (GLF) in Bogotá, Colombia, to spotlight the transformational role of technology in securing land rights and protecting our planet.

Join us on June 18th at 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM COT (UTC-5) for our Breakout Session, titled: Technology as a Catalyst for Land Tenure and Climate Justice, in the GHL Hotel Tequendama Bogotá, Salon Rojo: Lab H, Room: Golfistas 1.

In this interactive session, Cadasta and partners will explore how geospatial technology is helping Indigenous Peoples, Afro-descendant Peoples, and local communities secure land rights, protect forests, and drive climate action. Through real-world examples and open discussion, we’ll spotlight the promise and responsibility of technology in transforming land governance systems.

A Historic Moment for Colombia and the World

The Global Land Forum is not just another conference, it is one of the world’s most inclusive convenings on land rights and governance, hosted by the International Land Coalition (ILC). This year’s forum takes place in Bogotá, Colombia, at a turning point: just weeks after the Colombian government recognized Indigenous councils in the Amazon as self-governing authorities, granting them control over land, budgets, and local governance.

With themes spanning agrarian reform, food systems, extractivism, and climate justice, the forum offers a powerful platform for communities and advocates to exchange strategies, shape global policy, and affirm land rights as a cornerstone for peace, conservation, and climate action.

Whether you are a land rights advocate, a technology innovator, or a policymaker seeking scalable solutions, we invite you to join our session and contribute to this important conversation.
