Cadasta Featured in Esri’s ArcNews

Jun 27 — 2025

We’re honored that the powerful work of our partners is featured in the latest edition of Esri’s ArcNews. The article, marking Cadasta’s 10th Anniversary and entitled, “Mapping More Than Land: Advancing Land Rights Through GIS,” showcases how local organizations and community leaders across the globe are using Cadasta’s tools to collect their data, document, and map their land—paving the way for greater recognition, resilience, and equity.

Since 2019, Esri technology has powered Cadasta’s platform. Built on ArcGIS Online and incorporating other software and apps such as ArcGIS Survey123, ArcGIS Field Maps, and ArcGIS StoryMaps, the platform enables real-time, participatory data collection, even in the most remote and resource-constrained areas. Partners can manage and act on their own data to support land registration, forest monitoring, and urban planning.

From Indigenous communities in Belize mapping ancestral territories to local NGOs in Uganda supporting the issuance of Certificates of Ownership, the piece highlights Cadasta’s partnership with communities on the front lines of land rights and climate justice. With GIS technology and locally driven strategies, Cadasta is equipping communities to claim their rights, protect their resources, and advocate for their futures.

At Cadasta, we’re proud to support and amplify the work of these partners that use Cadasta’s tools, training, and technical support to accomplish their land tenure goals. This feature is a testament to their commitment and impact—and to the transformative power of data when it’s in the hands of communities themselves.
