David Weekley Family Foundation Increases Its Support to Further Cadasta’s Mission

Sep 17 — 2021

Cadasta is pleased to announce the David Weekley Family Foundation (DWFF) has renewed and increased its grant funding to $150,000 in support of Cadasta’s vision to build a world where even the most marginalized individuals and communities can benefit from the opportunities afforded by secure land and resource rights.

“DWFF is excited to continue supporting Cadasta’s vision of a world where the poor and marginalized benefit from secure land rights. As a foundation committed to human flourishing, over and over we have seen that mapping, registering and documenting land has the power to break the cycle of poverty, and we are committed to funding innovative solutions that move us closer to that goal,” shared Jana Kinsey, DWFF Investment Director.

With continued support from partners such as DWFF, Cadasta and its 80+ partners on the ground have documented the land rights of over five million people in 36 countries. “DWFF’s belief that land rights is a priority global issue and their confidence in Cadasta as a part of the solution is invaluable,” said Cadasta’s CEO, Amy Coughenour Betancourt. “We hope that by taking their lead, other donors will join DWFF to accelerate reaching the next target of 10 million people.” Cadasta will use this grant to provide technology, training, and technical assistance to implementing partners securing land rights in communities faced with evictions, land grabs, displacement, and deforestation.

Founded in 1990 with profits from David Weekley Homes, a U.S. homebuilding company started by David Weekley, DWFF is a Christian faith-based foundation that impacts the world through Christ-centered and secular organizations both nationally and internationally.
